GSA Halloween Party Raised Funds for Southwest Regional Library!
On Monday, October 31, from 2:00-4:00, the Gay Straight Alliance hosted a Halloween party in the library auditorium to raise money for the Southwest Regional Library. Thank you to everyone who helped with set up and making waffles! There was food, drinks, music, door prizes and everyone voted for their favorite decorated pumpkin. We raised over $150 for the “Friends of the Library.” The “Friends of the Library” organization supports youth, teen, and literacy programs as well as purchases equipment for the library. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Broward County Battle of the Books Competition
On April 26th, 2011, ten students from the PPCHS Book Club participated in the Broward County Schools Battle of the Books academic competition. Students from Broward County high schools competed to see who can quickly recall details from the 15 books on the Florida Teens Read list. Students in teams of four had 10 seconds to recognize a quote from one of the books. The competition was held at the Broward County Northwest Regional Library in Coral Springs and media specialists from all over Broward were there with students representing their schools. Each student received a Battle of the Books t-shirt and a book! We all had a lot of fun! Now’s the time to start checking out the Florida Teens Read list for 2011-2012!
